Crazy shit happening!

Early this afternoon, KATO Tomohiro, 25, drove his truck into a crowd on the "Walking Shopper's Paradise" main street of Akihabara, then disembarked and began wildly stabbing, injuring 17, 5 in critical condition of which three (FUJINO Kazunori, 19, and NAKAMURA Katsuhiko, 74, and one unidentified) were killed. In addition, it's currently rumored that the third death is a famous coterie artist.

About a week and a half ago, a thread was posted on 2ch Game Hardware board under the title "[News] In Akihabara, an Xbot ninja will be involved in a tragic slashing spree", with the text "Soon after 6/5, this is guaranteed to happen, so I thought I'd post the thread ahead of time."

The incident in the intersection occurred near the main Akihabara branch of Sofmap, one of the largest Japanese retailers of electronics, music, home video, and software. The new eight-story complex of Mandarake, the largest store chain for used anime and manga goods, is one block away. Police apprehended the suspect against the wall of a branch of Sato Musen, a discount store chain of electronics and appliances. Stores are reportedly closed in the immediate vicinity.

AFP reports that Tomohiro Kato has told police that he drove a rental truck all the way from Shizuoka for the purpose of killing random people in Akihabara.
